We had an encounter with a 'dog pack!'
Today when leaving my building to go to my car, I got out my doorway and a 'pack' of 4 chihuahuas came around the corner of the building. They all had 'dropped' leashes and were running loose! They spotted Molly and immediately ran over to us and surrounded her! What looked to be an old male(his face was white) got nose to nose to her and bared his teeth and growled. She immediately dropped into a 'down' position with her face resting on her front paws and was passive. At the same time, I was stepping from behind my walker to 'rescue' her, it became a moot point .....because she didn't react, they decided she was 'OK' and began to initiate PLAY! WHEW!!! The owner showed up 10 seconds later and all was good! I sure was in a panic for a moment though! I didn't know these dogs, they weren't residents of my complex.....I soon found out they were here to visit Grama! Thankfully a happy ending for us!

Good thing Molly diffused the situation! Louis did not react well when a Bull Terrier ran up to us. He was snarling, growling, and got very defensive. Because the other dog was young, he thought it was all in play. I hate it when dogs run up like that!

I haven't had this happen before. Molly knows all the other dogs in my complex and since most of them are geriatric (they pretty much are a grumpy old crew) and she ignores them after a quick hello sniff! For a 10 month old puppy with lots of oomph, her reaction to 'the pack' surprised but pleased me! I guess she knew she was outnumbered!LOL I just hope we never run into a big dog out for blood!

Maddy always used to do that to other dogs, run up joyfully and start leaping around them...no wonder she got attacked so often. Dogs hate that!

So true! Like fjm said to me about Maddy at that time, her puppy license ran out so the other dogs had to explain manners to her
