[QUOTE=MaryLynn;268104]Not sure, we skip the tree (I haven't put up a tree since I adopted a devon rex cat-[\QUOTE]

Oh how funny- I have a Devon Rex too! She's pretty calm though, and the least likely cat to cause any trouble. But she was a rescue from a whole litter a backyard breeder was going to have put to sleep (long story) and she certainly doesn't fit the breed standard!

We've always had trees with multiple dogs and cats in the house. A little table top one is the easiest option, but I do love big trees! Luckily, for the most part our animals are content to sleep under it, and don't try to climb. They have been known to steal ornaments though! For that reason we don't hang glass ornaments of any kind. Sea shells, pine cones, ribbons and plastic ornament are our usual decorations.

A bit scared of the tree this year.. the two dogs I am not worried about as they are small and I put non-tempting (or breakable) things on the bottom. The two cats are a whole different story.. they were tiny last year but they are now about 10lbs each and I have no doubts about them being able to take an 8 foot tree down.

I need to hurry up and get some canned air and the tree so we can do some proofing before lights and ornaments. And make sure I have a video recorder ready

HaHaHa! I would love to see that video as well!

I haven't gotten a tree as of yet, but most likely will do a very small one. I am still in the middle of house construction so will keep it small. But I admit to looking forward to a larger one once the house is finished!

Neither of my dogs have bothered the tree at all. I even have plush animals under mine and they have left them unharmed...lol (a gift from my girls many years ago) I thought about not putting them out, but so far so good.

I agree ms Stella - lovely room. The finishing touch is the pretty white poodle lounging on the oriental.

My Aussie use to love brushing against the bottom of the tree so he could swag the ornaments. He was very careful and in 14 years only broke one. This will be Swizzle's first experience with a Christmas tree. My Dad died before Christmas so I didn't have the heart to put one up. I think the idea of unbreakables on the bottom is a good one. I guess I have to go shopping.

It is little GiGi's first Christmas with us and I am excited to see what she thinks of the tree. She loves to chew on paper so I am excited about her opening her gifts and maybe her brother and sister's gifts as well.

I've been reading everyone's posts and enjoying the stories and ideas! So its been a few d days and our tree is still standing!yay! I don't let her hang out near it unsupervised but she hasn't shown much interest in it since we finished decorating it. Most of our ornaments are plastic so that's good. Its the sentimental ones my daughter made or ones i was given like my poodle ornament that i worry about. Fingers crossed we make it though the holidays.

My Loki got really calm in his older kitty age. But nothing would stop him from scaling the tree. I think he just really loved the natural scent. Had we went with an plastic tree perhaps he wouldn't have paid any attention to it? I really look forward to getting another devon someday, perhaps after the dogs.
