Here is the e-mail correspondence I had with the lady who came up with the belly covering coats. I'm willing to make up a pattern and size it up and down for our group. I can either mail out paper pattern or upload an image that can be sized up or down on graph paper, for anyone who knows how to sew. I'll make up some simple instructions to follow. might take me a few weeks to get to it...
What nice people you have on your Poodle forum! I don't mind at all
if you copy my Poodles' coat design. At the time, I could not find a
coat for my Poodles that covered their chest and belly so I decided to
make my own . . . although I'm not much of a seamstress. These are the
only dog coats I've made; however, I have made quite a few decorative
vests. I like the Polartec Wind Pro fabric that I used on the coats as
it is warm without being bulky. Our area (heart of North Carolina)
does not often get excessively cold weather in the winter.
Did you notice the Hurtta Dog Jacket advertisement at the bottom of
your forum page? These look similar and, had they been available back
when I made my dog coats, I would have tried them. Plus, I think the
"belting" around the waist is a superior design to mine.
I'd love to see what expert sewers come up with for their Poodle coats.
