Puppy mill?
I called Onyx's breeder this morning wanting to know if she had any pups left a friend is looking for one.She said no BUT we have some Ldoodles and Gdoodles and some mini australian shepherd huh!?? I did not have any clue she did any of these dogs. Do people breed this many diff types of dogs? does this seem puppy mill-ish? Am I just overreacting? I guess there is little I can do now I bought a dog from her she does seem very nice and seems to have loved the puppies so much.

My first thought with the oodles, is yes this does sound like it could be a puppy mill. She is trying to have something for everyone. It should not work this way. I know with Lexi's breeder, it was spelled out very clear in black and white that she does not condone any type of "oodle" breeding and then the reasons were listed why. I can't imagine a poodle breeder thinking this would be accectable.

What does her website say? Most good breeders actually have a disclaimer or link setting forth their position on "mixed breeding", specifically poodle breeds.

Honestly, any of the breeder websites I have been interested in and visited state that they do not condone the breeding of Poodle with any other dog, and usually point you to a rescue if that is what you want. Even some of the ones I know are "iffy"

No reputable poodle breeder is going to breed poodles to other breeds. Gosh, and this isn't the first time I've heard of a vet tech being a less than reputable breeder. Ironic that veterinarians tend to promote spay/neuter at all costs at very young ages yet their techs will breed two breeds together/have questionable breeding practices.

Maybe not a puppy mill, which would indicate a very large-scale breeding operation, but certainly a backyard breeder (i.e., a disreputable breeder). Did she at least do the recommended health testing on the parents of your puppy?
I really hate when vets or vet techs getting into the breeding-for-profit business (rather than doing it for the right reasons). Because it's a vet or tech, they have instant credibility with their community and someone not too familer with purebred dog breeding would not know they are dealing with a backyard breeder.

It may not be the sign of a miller, but it's definitely a sign of greed and BYB.
It really makes me sad when people involved with dogs do stupid things that they should know better about. =/

YOU HAVE TO GO LOOK AT THE PLACE YOUR PUPPY COMES FROM ! Everyone of them seems nice... look at what you are supporting. I know it's too late now, but educate others. We all have to go to the kennel or homes and look at everything, then decide if we want to help this person continue what they are doing or not.

I would definitely have your friend go elsewhere for a dog. Especially since she's breeding multiple types of "designer dogs" ("doodles" and "minis").
