Default Sick or something else?

For the past couple of days Casper hasn't been eating very well. The day before yesterday he ate breakfast (all of it) but no dinner. Yesterday he didn't want any breakfast or dinner. We took him to my son's BB practice where he ran around a lot and when we came home at about 7:15, I managed to get him to eat about 1/4 dry food. We always mix his TOTW with different canned foods and I've been really trying to get him to eat by mixing in different canned, his usual favorites, etc... Yesterday he'd walk by his bowl, smell it and walk away... Today he won't even come to the kitchen to see whats in the bowl. He's playing like normal and drinking water but he's also whining every now and then out of the blue. He is really wanting to "mate" lately and yesterday at practice he wouldn't leave my friend's Pom alone. Kept trying to mount and lick her, etc... (She is spayed). He is set to be neutered next Friday. Should I take him in to the vet today in case something is wrong or could this be him wanting to mate?

Unless he has been around - or within scenting range - of a bitch in heat, I doubt it is an urge to mate. How old is he? Pups definitely go through hungry/not hungry phases, and sore mouth due to teething could also be affecting him. Have you checked his mouth and teeth to see if they look sore? And is he pooping normally?

Ralph goes through phases where he seems to be off food. I've stopped worrying when he chooses to skip a meal or two (as long as he is still drinking water and acting normally). He always just eats when he feels like it. Maybe just a sore mouth or feeling a bit off.

He will be months old in two weeks. He is pooping normally and the dogs that he's been haven't been in heat. The whining is very strange. Like yesterday in the car, he was reallyl whinning which he never does. I've checked his teeth and his gums but all his adult teeth are in and his gums aren't sore. Maybe just a pick eating phase? I've even put treats in his food bowl but still nothing. A little while ago he walked by his food bowl, sniffed and walked away. Maybe just being picky?

I don't know, my husband says I am hypersensitive about the poodle (he's right!), but it sounds a little odd to me. I would keep watching him and if he acts lethargic or continues not to eat it might be time for the vet. You might also want to postpone his neuter until you are 100% sure he is not sick or hurt in anyway.

Yeah it seems a little weird to me too. Huxley has NEVER wanted to skip a meal and definitely not for several days in a row. It sounds to me like Casper might be trying to tell you something. Can you call your vet and see what he thinks of the symptoms? See if it's something he wants you to watch or something that you should bring him ASAP for? Just to be safe...
