After chatting with the owner for a few minutes the person may get down on one knee to pet the dog closer, but by that time I'm sure the dog's already buried their head into the stranger's crotch! With our own dogs, we immediately greet them face to face, I know mine loves to smell my mouth to smell what I've been eating, and Leroy focuses on my hands to see if they will be grabbing a leash, keys, getting food from the counter, etc.
