Ok Lola is home...Yay! And Rusty loves her... Double yay! Maybe he luvs her a little too much :-/
He wants to play with her so bad and she's pretty spunky and like to play too but rusty keeps grabbing her by the neck and sometimes she squeals... I clap my hands loud and say enough! Easy! And he backs off for a sec and then i praise him but then she attacks him again and off they go... Is this ok? Or should I not allow him to do that at all?
he is 9months and she is 9 Wks so both are puppies but with a huge size difference.
I think as long as there is no bullying involved, and she keeps coming back for more, it should be fine. It sounds as though they are having a lot of fun together!
Yes they're definitely playing and it's obvious everyday he loves her more. I just wasn't sure if when he grabs her by the neck or head if it's play or dominant behavior and whether I should allow it or not. She sometimes squeals and he let's go right away but she doesn't appear bothered because as soon as he let's go she pounces on him. Frisky little thing! Lol
Boy, I'm such a dope! I was really alarmed there for a second. I thought you had a new baby, silly me! When you said she was spunky at 9 weeks old, I was puzzled and thought, "Geeze, she's going to have her hand full with that one if she spunky already!"
What really alarmed me was the dog grabbing the baby by the head and neck. 8^O Too funny!
My standard always goes for my minis neck does worry me a bit but she does stop when I ask her.. It is play and it sounds simular to what your guys are doing I wouldn't stop unless it gets to rough.. Best to get control now tho before she gets bigger.. Ps your baby's are so lovely and congrats on your new pup
The photo of them snuggling together is sooo cute! It sounds like they're just playing - Mia also goes after the scruff of the neck when playing, and I imagine it can be scary when she's playing with a smaller dog. But they're adorable and obviously are getting along. Congrats on your poo family! (There has to be a better way of saying this.)
My almost 9 yr old female labradoodle gets Quigley (6mo old male SPOO) by the neck all the time but it's not rough. And I can tell by her body language and his that all is well. My SPOO just gets stinky with all the dog spit on him. LOL
At first glance, I thought it was a human baby too. LOL.
It sounds like rough housing to me. My two play quite roughly too and I worry about Maurice ripping out Matisse's show coat around his neck area because that's where he concentrates his grabs. I figure if I don't see blood, they're okay. lol.
Your post made me think about my spoo and my smallest pom. Remington and Bailey are best friends and play together - Remington too bites at Bailey, but it has never been enough to make Bailey yelp or anything, and he goes back for more... It looks like your two babies are happy together and love each-other very much!
How time flies... I posted this thread when I brought Lola home right around this time 3 years ago! not much has changed ... they play and cuddle the same way. The difference is that she towers over him now ~ seriously considering a 3rd.. love them so much
My standard Billy has always mouthed Tia my mini on the neck when they play. She was really tiny when we got her at 8 weeks and I used to worry he would hurt her but when you look carefully the mouthing is so gentle. Now he is 18 months old and she is 11 months old and it is Tia who is the rough one when they play, she hangs off poor old Bills mouth and ears! My favourite play thing they do is when he lays on the floor and she lays in his arms on her back and they click their teeth together while making the dearest little noises!

I personally think they will be ok. The younger one will start being the annoying one soon. they are going to play each other to the point of exhaustion, so make sure to train each separately so they don't get too focused on the other
