My wife, daughter and I just spent some happy time meeting "Justin," an 8-month-old, white toy who looks a lot like a smaller version of Beau. He's a breeder surrender, currently being fostered by our wonderful groomer. He comes from champion parents, but turned out to be a small mini rather than a toy. Super sweet, house trained, not hyper active - exactly what I've been looking for!
If we do decide to go for it, we'll bring Beau there so they can meet and play a bit, then bring the two home together so Justin doesn't just show up as an "invader."
I guess I have a poodle addiction. The only cure is -- more poodles!
We want a second poodle too but I want to wait until Nickel's older and calmer. I have been doing my research and it's getting more and more difficult to turn away from the puppy pages. But I'm trying!
Good luck with everything. I hope Beau will get along well with his new buddy.
Skye, I think you can relate to this: in addition to meeting Justin, we also met the poodles who are at rescue right now. (Among other things, our groomer Madeline runs the Southern CA poodle rescue - she and her vet husband are angels.) One of the dogs there now is a sweet, 3-year-old, brown standard boy, named Coco. He looks just like the smallish brown standard -- also named Coco -- my grandparents owned when I was growing up. My fond memories of Coco are the main reason we went with a poodle as our first-ever dog. I would have brought this Coco home with me in a New York minute, but the look on my wife and daughter's faces put a stop to such crazy thoughts. Someday I will own a spoo, but not today.
Hello, my name is Barb and I suffer from MPS (Multiple Poodle Syndrome)
Officially we only have one poodle, but since our daughter and her spoo, Meau, still live with us; it's like we have two!! If/when Katy moves out and takes Meau with her, I'll be phoning our breeder immediately to get on the very next waiting list for a new puppy!!
Thanks so much BG!! We know we're biased, but we think she's a pretty girlie too!! My friend, Jackie, took that picture when we were outside at rally practice one day - I'm hoping Jackie can get some more good shots for us someday - but winter is upon us now and we're not doing outdoor rally practice for a while!
Okay for my birthday this past December I wanted a poodle so we found a breeder and picked out Louis he is a silver mini.... while looking for Louis the breeder also had a black mini litter so hard to choose but we picked Louis from the silver litter, then in Febuary I was on her site and the black mini was still there and my heart broke so we got him too!! his name is Dolce. Well I can not stay off her site she currently has a black mini born in December he is so beautiful!! but Janie said NO! (but I still look at him several times a week) Then yesterday I found out my grooomer is finding a home for there spoo (they just found out they are having triplets) she is the same age as the boys her birthday is 10-1 Dolce is 10-11 and Louis is 10-22 and she is a light apricot maybe cream... Well Janie was on board because she wanted a spoo to start with... but 3 omg that is 3x everything am I crazy? So my question is is 3 to many for 2 people?

No you are NOT crazy........well crazy in love maybe, but that is Okay
Your poodles are lucky to have you....and my goodness are they ever beautiful, what lovely pictures!
We had two poodles and lost our 15 year old spoo, Skye in September. We have a three year old toy named Benji. Two weeks ago we got a 9 week old spoo named Fritz. I love having two at one time! I also would love to have three but my husband would kill me
Three is a pack. Pecking order amongst the dogs can take a while to figure out. If you decide to add a third keep a close eye on them for a while. Sometimes there are two that want to be the leader and little snits develop. It all sorts itself out, but don't add the third until you have time to supervise. It takes a month or two to get them figured out.
Personally, I wouldn't want to have three dogs the same age. That means in ten years you will have three old dogs!
Four dogs is my maximum allowable occupancy!! We currently have four dogs (two of which are standard poodles) as our older dogs travel to the rainbow bridge - hopefully not anytime too soon, I will definitely be looking at another standard poodle (or 2!)
MPS is soooo real! We had three Spoos and two Whippets, and it is manageable for two people. Thinker has left us, but we will be keeping a puppy out of one of our future litters and will be back to five dogs.
Plumcrazy...I hope all your girls live to be really old women, but when you are ready, I am but a phone call away! : )
Beau is so handsome and since Justin looks like him and has such a great disposition he sounds totally irresistible.
I agree about the Lucy avatar picture. She has such a cute flirty look on her face.
I would love to have a pal for Swizzle but with all the going back and forth to Florida it would get so expensive. Bringing Swizzle costs almost as much as another person.
keep us posted! I'd love another dog but 1 dog and 1 cat and 2 humans in a 1 bedroom apt is enough. Don't know where I'd put a second crate! Plus, I'd like Fozz to settle just a big more. So once we have a bigger home and Fozz has settled down, we'll do it. Then I can also justify a chest freezer to make my own dog food for two dogs.
