I was looking for the post someone had about their dog coming in muddy and wet, and what to do. We are heading into snow very soon, and I am not looking forward to the snow brought in and melting on my wood floors, which are already damaged from the wet the dogs have brought in for years.
These are pricey coats, but they stay on well and seem to be built for spoo bodies, even those with lots of hair or show coats.
I do own one, but am thinking about getting one for my mini Kai.
Just thought I'd share... poodleit ? Rain coats for dogs
Those are awesome! Its only snowed here in tx a few times a year, so I dont need one, but did you see that white spoo with the balls on her legs? That was so cool looking!
hmmmmmmmm was tossing around making legs for bella (i have jackets) but this is sorta ll in one- wonder how hard to get on... jacketing 4 dogs out the door is always a pain
Just an FYI, I saw something on Cherrybrook that was very similar, and ALOT cheaper. It was more like a rainsuit though, not as insulated. It was under the snoods category I believe......
I use Hurtta suits on my girls in the snow. The snow balls on their legs last year prevented them from walking. They looked pitiful. These little suits are waterproof and insulated - expensive but very worth it. Once you get the knack of putting them on, they are quite easy. If I can remember what programme I used to upload pictures, I'll post one of them.
Very nice looking suites to wear! Not sure if something like that his available here?
I really would like to get some sort of well fitting suit, with the legs for the 3 dogs. We are outside a lot during the winter. I wouldn't have to dress everyone up every time we go out, but for those play times and long walks when the snow is sticky or its super deep and cold it would be much more comfortable for the dogs.
Darn I wish I could sew!
Could you each tell us what you like about the one you purchased and what you wish were different? I need to purchase one for my standard ... I don't need "the michelin man" style or warmth, but I absolutely need waterproof, breathable, somewhat warm, and full length body and leg styling. I don't care about hood, but I seem to like the hurtta one with a hood on a website I found, but I REALLY like the red one above with the little poos. Oops... maybe I should finish that word, little poodles.
I think I like the black and red one above, but in the photo shown here, it looks like a lot of the neck/shoulder area is exposed?
There is a bigger opening for the neck with the option to cinch it closed. However, I don't think that it will go right up close to her head. It is made for extra movement.
I was also under the impression that it was quiet while the dog was moving. Not so - it does make noise but I can live with that.
Lilah's feet do get wet because it does not seal at the feet. I don't mind washing her muddy feet though.
I would have liked the option to make the legs shorter. Even with careful measuring, it is a bit on the big side.
All in all, it is a good quality suit. Easy to get in and out of, easy to wash, breathable & lightweight with the option of adding layers for warmth if needed and non-irritating taped seams.
The supplier of the girls' little suits imports them from Finland and I don't know if they are also imported into USA. In answer to a question from another poster, the suits have draw strings at various points, from memory, the neck and the waist, so they fit quite snuggly and the poodles' legs don't disappear into the chest area when they run or they stride out purposfully. If you find a supplier, make sure you have a good old chat to them concerning the measurements as I had to get Inca a suit way bigger than that recommended for a toy poodle. Coco, the little brown girl, is only 9.5" and she also had to have a suit larger than recommended for poodles.
They are made from a sort of sandwich type of material - waterproof/windproof on the outside, a membrain between outside and inside and a sort of fleece on the inside. They are extremely well made and well finished off.
Thanks highhorse. Can't find a retailer in Canada. Boo hoo
