Okay, so I gotta ask; Is Rango very well trained, or does he just love to pose for the camera? Your pictures are wonderful, and he looks totally relaxed and cooperative. He is a very nice looking guy, and he looks like a cuddly snuggler. :-)

Awwww thx LW. He is really even tempered, easy to train & , seemingly, quite likes having his picture taken. I guess one could say, he's a bit of a ham as he he smiles for the camera most of the time. I especially get a kick out of the "hey baby" look he often offers- 3rd pic from bottom

Oh my gosh, what beautiful photos! Kloliver, Rango is fantastic! I love your "excessive" photo-ing

And to all the others here, I love this thread! Keep 'em coming, I'm a sucker for the exotic looks.

Default Phantom Brindle

Ziva's color is rapidly lightening, and her brindle-ness is popping out. Recent photos from her latest grooming session:

Rango is very handsome and the groomer did a great job (did you do it yourself?).

Poodlemama's babies are all adorable- love them snuggled up on the bed.

Ziva is for sure a brindle, my goodness. It is stunningly clear. She doesn't look phantom at all. Isn't it fun when their coat changes? You never know quite what you have, unless they are nonfading black, until they are a closer to a year old. She's beautiful. I would keep her cut short just to show off her coloring.

I was reading up on a thread here about color and the poodle standard. I didn't post on that thread because I was too skeered, and have a lot of respect for the breeders and other professionals who make a lot of great points about pros and cons of the standard vs colors that vary from it.

I did a lot of things kind of wrong when I picked out Ziva, including that I bought her from a breeder that really, truly, was not up to snuff. In fact, her pedigree, when I registered her with AKC, came back as completely different from what I was told her parents were at the time I picked her. I mean, sire and dam... completely different in name from the dogs who were pointed out to me on-site as her sire and dam.

I have learned a lot since going to that breeder, and in future will do differently. Also, regarding color, I just loved her looks, but mostly picked her personality.

I got lucky with this dog, and she is turning out to be wonderful in every respect ... I will always pick a pup or an adult based on personality and potential for work and for my lifestyle, but I have learned a lot about where to start.
