I am going to give this a try. I may not be able to hang in there, but I did with Bonnie. :)

A little catch up first:

2 weeks (second from left):

4 weeks:

6 weeks:

8 weeks:
coming home

missing mom and siblings, but hey, grass is tasty

8 1/2 weeks with Bonnie. You know how hard it is to get a black and an apricot picture without either a washed out apricot or a black blob?! This will take some practice!:

Great photos! Thanks for posting. I love the ones where he is interacting with your other dogs -- with Bonnie on the bed, and looking directly at Echo. He looks like a really intelligent dog. And good looking too. I love the straight tail in the 9 week photo (knowing how much you did not want a curved tail). Looks like the show ring might be in your future!

How's he adapting to your family? Is your mother as pleased as she expected to be? I just think the whole thing seems fabulous!

Not sure if the tail will remain straight or not. I love straight tails, but his mom had a slight curl in her tail. So far he carries it straight, but I am not holding my breath and it does look like it has a slight curve to it at times. It's just a tail. ;)

He is adapting terrifically well. Bonnie and he want to play and play, so I started saying "enough" and they eyeball me and stop. My mother wanted him in her room, so he is in her room at night. She hunts him up before she goes to bed, takes him outside and then he follows her to her room.

Three dogs seems a lot of dogs, but Echo is so easy compared to the poodles, it isn't so bad. Besides, they are very entertaining.

Thanks, momof three. I know cousin Zoe is as adorable as Jazz! I do hope things are working out with the allergies!

Thanks. :) Jazz may or may not be shown. He is only 9 weeks old, anything can happen, but he is a sweet, sweet boy. I almost hate to say it, but he has only peed in the house one time and that was on his papers in his exercise pen!!! I am shocked. He runs to the door and we let him out- immediate pee and runs back in! Of course, if he hasn't gone outside in a couple hours, somebody takes him out there. It's like he doesn't WANT to pee or poo in the house. Maybe he is learning from the other dogs, too.

Bonnie is teaching him stuff. She dug in the dirt in the one place I allow them to dig in the backyard then she stopped and looked at him. He sniffed the dirt. She dug furiously and looked at him. He pawed, she dug and looked at him. Within 3 or 4 minutes she was watching him dig in the dirt with her tail wagging!! Oy, yeh. LOL.

When Echo got annoyed and barked at him (he was pouncing on his tail), Bonnie got inbetween the two and led him away like a mare leads a colt away. IT IS SO FRICKIN" CUTE!!!!! (except for the part where Jazz wants to swing from Bonnie's ear hair...)

Oh wow Outwest, you got another poodle!! Congratulations! I haven't been around for awhile, and so am behind with the times, lol.! Funny enough, I haven't been around because....I got my new puppy too...Callie's replacement pup from Donna. She's a black female and now 3.5 mnths old. I have 4 dogs, 3 spoos and Duke the greyhound, busy times around here.

I look forward to watching Jazz grow and hearinf all about your ongoing love affair with him. I love his name! My new girl is "Tyra", short for Tyrant! She's a little firecracker.

"Though it's possible to get very nice pictures of black dogs, of course, the lighting has to be just right. Many of my casual pictures show only a featureless blob with a gleam of eyes somewhere in there."
That was the reason my husband didn't want a black dog, LOL.
Jazz is growing so much! I love seeing all these dogs grow up thru photos.

How did I miss this thread?! I guess I'm not on here enough anymore, or either don't pay close enough attention. He's such a handsome guy!

I think black poodles are STUNNING but that's the same reason I didn't want one. I know, it's kind of shallow and doesn't really matter, but I love being able to see and capture their expressions. I struggle to get good photos of Nova's face.

12 weeks:
15.25 inches tall, 17 pounds. Calculated at 27 inches tall and 57 pounds as an adult according to this chart:

That is bigger than I thought he would be. I am thinking it is overestimating, but I will put it here now so I remember at the end of 52 weeks and we can see if it turns out that way.

I can't seem to get a picture showing his personality because he is in motion so much. You'll have to believe me that he is a sweet, goofy guy. His favorite drinking spot is with his head inside the watering can.

He dribbles :):

First full groom today (12 weeks). He looks like a poodle! Whoo Hoo. :) I have been calling him 'daddy longlegs'. He is starting to pull together physically and handling his legs better and better, especially his rear end, plus his feet are getting nice and tight. The groomer went on and on about him, which made me feel good, but maybe she was just being nice. She is going to do shaving and bathing only, so Jazzy is going to get pretty fluffy before I take him to the swanky groomer.

The whites of his eyes never show, so I liked this one where he is peeking up at me. He even lies around all poodly:

I am going to ask my husband to take some pictures with the big camera. This is with the tiny canon powershot, but I wanted to catch him while he was clean and brushed.

*I reserve the right to post more pictures of him if my husband takes some with the big camera.*:angel2:

Very cute pic! But you got that Bravura so now *you're* the swanky groomer.

Took Jazz to the little dog area of the local dog park. He mostly trotted back and forth along the little dog fence wanting to get into the big dog area (not going to happen). It was a good chance for me to look at him trotting from afar. :) He's 13 weeks today. I am hoping I can get some photos of him in a couple days.

13 weeks (3 months old):

stuck lips seem to be the norm lately:

another just standing because I can't get an action one in focus. He is black, but doesn't look it in these pictures. :( I don't know how to take a decent picture of black. I think I need to try lots of natural light. If I use the flash, his eyes are green. If I don't he is a black blob, so I bring the brightness up so he can be seen but, then he looks blue. eh, either I will get better at it or give up. :)

Yes, black is very hard to get right. I know because I have taken many many photos of black bears and it is always a challenge. You are right, you need as much natural light as you can get, but if photographing outdoors, try to pick days with some cloud cover so the lighting is not harsh. You can use a remote flash if your camera supports it; then you dont get the eye reflection. Extra light will not only make his dark details show up better, but will help the autofocus to find him. Try not to photograph him against a very light/white background.

If your camera supports "bracketing" you might try that too.

Thanks Jacamar. Your black bear is black. :) I showed your post to my husband who does the big cameras (but hasn't tried to shoot black before). Unfortunately, we don't get many overcast days, especially this time of year. But, he does have a remote flash capability with an off camera shoe and cable, but not a wireless one. His camera also does 'bracketing'. We haven't tried that. A nonwhite background is a good idea, especially after seeing what happens with white. He also has an off camera big bracket thing for the flash. Haven't tried any of it yet.
