Atticus "flicking"
Atticus does this little happy dance multiple times a day...when I get home from work, I put on or take off his sweater, after a bath, after I make my bed, when he gets a new toy, there is a new pillow or blanket on the couch, after I wash his bed and blanket...pretty much about everything lol. My 3 year old niece calls it "flicking" so thats what we refere to it as now. He's been doing it since I brought him home 3 years ago and I still cant help but laugh every time he flicks. He brings a smile to everyones face.
Sorry I can't get the video to show up in the post so I'll just give you guys the URL.
Here is he flicking because he is excited his piggies are out to play.

Here he is flicking about me making my bed. Its nearly impossible to make my bed with him in the room. He has to run around flicking and biting my sheets the whole time. I usually have to make my bed over him and he likes to run around under the sheets, lol.

Just when I thought he couldn't get any cuter, Atticus performs his happy dance for the camera!! That bit of happy, frenzied pawing is so cute to watch. I wonder if he does it because he's "scenting" the bedding with his paws, sort of to say, "Atticus has been here, this spot is his and he will be back!" Whatever motivates his doggy behavior, he looks just adorable doing it.

Its funny you say that, my sister was just saying the same thing yesterday lol. I always thought he was doing it because he has excited (which in some cases I think that's what it is), but other times when hes doing it after I wash my sheets, I wonder if he's doing it for a reason, perharps marking like you said. I wish I could find out more about it, but I don't really know what to type in a search engine...hmm

I'm fairly certain it is an instinctive territory marking behavior. Dogs mark areas they consider theirs by scratching, be it the ground/bed/couch, etc. to lay down the scent that comes from the sweat glands in their paws. Sweet how lovable stinky poodle feet can be, eh? Excitement may spur Atticus on to "claim" his space. Maybe someone who knows more will chime in. It's awfully "flicking" cute though!!
