Well, I'm probably in some way jinxing myself here, but what the heck I'll take a risk. I found our new poodle! A toy apricot my daughter has dubbed "Lucy"!
These pictures are from 10 days of age when we picked her out. I'll count them as week one, then I'll try to get pictures closer to the actual "week birthdays" as they come. Of course I'm crazy for taking too many pictures so don't be surprised to see some of those "in between" shots!
I couldn't be happier with the breeder and the quality of her mother! Temperment of mom and sister are to die for, they didn't bark when we drove up but both ran out to greet us tails wagging! Once we got inside both the one year old sister and the mother were happy to lay on the floor and couch while we chatted!
I met the stud earlier, but when I did he was more interested in er.... reaquainting himself with the mother of the litter I was looking at. He did come check me out a few times so I don't think he's too shy. He is a very small toy and has that looser fluffy coat, though he still won a few shows I'm sure with the help of hair spray :(. Mom is a perfect 5lbs with exactly the coat I'm looking for and bone dry eyes! Lucy's full sister is a little too tiny for me at just under 4lbs (spayed of coarse)

Her coat is in the middle for being curly, however she does technically still have a chance at getting a bit better as the breeder feels her puppy coat is still lingering.
Lucy is "charting" to be about 4 1/2 to 5 lbs, but honestly how acurate can the chart be at such a young age and the mother is super attentive with a litter of only two?!?
I took a big risk on choosing "Lucy" before her eyes openened and her coat grew in, but once I met the mother and sister and heard all about this line and their incredible temperment, I was pretty well sold as temperment is #1 on my list. Even at the age of 6 years mom looks well, perfect in my eyes!
The breeder feels that Lucy has a great chance at that thick curly coat as she already feels quite dense even compared to her little brother who is no slouch himself. Last years litter of three had two out of three end up with dry eyes and thick coats, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed tightly!!!! Oh and I know I'm shooting for the stars, but I'd love as dark a nose as possible!
Here's Lucy!!!
Love this long dock. Only thing better would have been NO dock. Darn it being 7 days too late :(
