I am watching Poppy carefully, as she is due to go into season. All other dogs I've known have shown all the usual signs to a greater or lesser degree - but always pretty obvious. Poppy seems to show almost none. Does anyone have any tips on checking, when the obvious signs are so minimal as to be barely noticeable? I don't really want to go as far as blood tests, or anything invasive.
Just what I have been doing, JE! Her breeder reckons all her red and apricot females come into season before 12 months, so I think she did have a season last March. I shall watch for mounting behaviour with Sophy, too. I am doing a "bits" inspection of both dogs twice a day - they are not amused!
I'm imagining the daily "okay, girls, present your bits for inspection" and giggling to myself.
Even though Vasco was neutered at 6 months, he's still VERY interested in females in season. He's not sure WHY he's interested, but he is certainly aware of them.
i was saying for 3 weeks i was sure my aussie was coming into heat.... but noooo no go... huge flirting, playing MADLY my friends unneutered dogs were hugely interested but nada. . .
