Teddy fell of my bed which was pretty high. I say was because I already changed it. I couldn't take chances of anyone else getting hurt.

It broke my heart to see him suffer. I took him to the vet and he did a 4 k-pin surgery (I believe thats what the surgery was called). He charged me $700 including the medicine and the x-rays (he took 3).

The medicines that he gave me are the following:

Rimadyl 25mg (Pain killer) I have to cut the tablet into 4 parts and give him one part in the morning and one part in the night.

Cephalexin Oral (antibiotics)

3 green dogs Multivitamin and minerals. one tablet a day.


He didn't get a cast he just has like a bandage looking thing. The vet told me to be like normal but he cant jump.

Has anyone had they're baby have this kinda of procedure. I'm worried that his leg won't be like normal or that he will have pain later on.

Also, I read on another thread that people take their dogs off the pain medication as soon as they can. How do you know that your baby isn't in pain?

ps. I attached a picture of my baby. He's a boy, but he was sleeping on my bed so thats why the bed sheet is pink.

I'm so sorry to hear that Teddy was hurt. It's a terrible feeling knowing that your puppy is injured or in pain. I don't have advice for you, but your story reminded me of a blog that I follow "written" by another red teeny toy poodle (Muppet) who broke her leg: My Rescue Story

Muppet also has a Facebook advice column (https://www.facebook.com/askMuppet?fref=ts), and her owners may be able to share their experiences with you there if you ask a question.

I don't know those people personally, but it's a cute poodle blog, and Muppet seems to have recovered well from her broken leg.

I think little Atticus suffered broken limbs twice - if you search you should find the threads. I'm sure Teddy will make an excellent recovery, but it is a warning to watch him while he is small and fragile.
