Default Medical Weed for Dogs? Hmm...

I listened to this show this morning... interesting. Some arguments on both sides of the issue that you can read, or listen and surf.

This issue probably applies more to Canada than the States. There are stores in Toronto and Vancouver where we could simply walk in and buy Cannabis oil... with or without THC or CBD.

I wonder if the few States that have legalized Cannabis have that option.

I do apologize for my mistake but here is the correct link.

Wow! That link from The Bark is certainly detailed. And it looks like California is well aware of some of the issues of medical cannabis for canines. I like the suggestion to rub oil on the gums as a method of dosing.

In the radio interview that sparked my interest, the man interviewed said that he had gone to his Doctor for a prescription for his dog. The Doctor of course found it unusual but wrote a note that said: This patient has an issue for which cannabis would be of benefit. *Or words to that effect.*

PS: I have no inclination to use medical marijuana on Tonka. It would be a looong drive to get it for one, and for two, he doesn't need it. But as he ages, it's good to know that it could be available.

PPS: Now that I think about it, it may be a way of getting Mr. Picky to eat. Hmmmmm.....

Default Instead of Doggie Weed, Maybe Try CBD

If you're interested in how cannabidnoids can benefit your dog, you might look at CBD. Like THC, CBD is cannabinoid, but it does not get the user high. It's legal in all 50 states.

I have both THC and CBD clients, so I do quite a bit of research on this topic regularly.

I personally use CBD and really appreciate the benefits. After having a dog get very sick on marijuana (after he unknowingly ate some at the beach), I would not subject a dog to marijuana unless there was a very compelling health reason. I thought my poor dog had a stroke, he was at the emergency vet overnight and no one enjoyed the experience.

I live in Colorado where both medicinal and recreational pot is legal. A local pet store carries CBD oil and other related products. You can just walk in and buy it. Any products which contain thc must be purchased at a MJ Dispensery. There have been a few news articles about making sure your pets dont accidentally ingest their humans stash as inadvertant animal overdoses are becoming way too common.

A friend has used CBD oil to calm his hyperactive border collie so he can focus for training.....it worked well. I contemplated using it for Poppy during our incredibly very bad weekend of recovery but opted to tough it out. Wish I had used it....for both of our sakes.

CBD is legal in all 50 US states. I buy my personal use from Elixinol, and they have pet treats https://elixinol.com/product/category/cbd-pet-treats/

Hemp Oil Edibles? Hmmmmm.... I wonder what our Canada Border Services would think of that. lol

I did stumble over another Caninaboid Treats site today tho. Again from BC.

Pot-laced dog treats popular at Sooke dispensary | CTV News

They're likely harmless enuf. But still... I wouldn't give them to Tonka.
