Default Foot Injury - prosthetic brace?

As an update to my dog's foot injury - he went to the vet on Monday. We took more x-rays and the surgery on his foot is totally healed but he does have a weakness in the ligament at the back of the foot. The ligaments on the sides are fine. The vet applied a splint to give him some suppoert and he can walk well with the splint on. We are going to try this for a few weeks and see if he can strenghten his foot. We are discussing the use of a prosthetic brace just in case he needs more permant support. My vet is not reccommending more surgery simply because an eight thousand dollar operation only has about a fifty per cent chance of correcting the problem and in the end the dog would be most unhappy with a fused foot. Has anybody had any experience with braces?

I havnt personally used a brace with my dog. I did research them heavily and contact a few companies though when i was thinking of one for my dogs knee. If it helps then i would consider purchasing one for him. I can give you some good company links if you would like.
