Introducing new Spoo pup to household (dog, child, and chameleons)
Currently, I have a 6 year old small mix breed (Duke, a Shiba Inu/Corgi X, around 22 lbs) who is great with other dogs, having spent quite a bit of his life in a grooming shop. I also have a 2 year old, who knows how to properly greet dogs, and two chameleons living in our living room in a mesh inclosure. Any suggestions on the best way to introduce our incoming new member (female Standard pup, will be 8 weeks old when we get her) to our current household? We will have a puppy playroom set up in the kitchen. I want to make sure Duke is okay around pup, and am a little nervous about that first day I return to work after we get the pup. I am going to take at least 4-5 days off, but after that, I will be working and we will be out of the home for around 6 hours at a time a few days a week. Duke CAN jump over the puppy pen, so that won't be a complete deterrent to keeping him out of the pup's area. Any suggestions here, or books or links for advice?
