The thing with trainers is they should really train you, if they leave and you don't keep up with the training its as if they were never trained. Keep your energy positive yet assertive, most importantly calm. If the dog nips ignore the dog. No eye contact, no petting, no talking. If they beg for attention turn your head and they will give up. If your kids are reinforcing the behavior it will continue no matter what you do. My girlfriend tried so hard to stop her dog begging but her grandmother keeps feeding her from the table so the begging has continued. I've never fed my dog from the table or any human food at all, not even giving eye contact when eating and he has completely given up begging.

If a dog learns he can get something positive with a behavior he will continue, simple as that.
