Yes, it's a very short window.

I am the queen of editing. I am trying hard to wait a few minutes, reread the post and then submit, but I am admittedly a bit hyper, "post, post, post, oops, let me fix that, oops, let me fix that again." This board is stricter than most, so my flaws show; all the more reason to learn to practice restraint. Still, it would be nice to be able to edit indefinitely, but then maybe people like me would not learn to be more careful?
It can be difficult for some to actively participate in as diverse a forum as this one without a few foibles along the way. At least pm'ing the mods is an option.

I try to compose my thoughts before I post, but I do run into problems with the Group Buy threads. I will often post, then inevitably I remember something I meant to include, so I go back only to find the editing window has closed. Then I'm forced to clutter the thread with yet another post.
I just love being able to delete an entire post on my writer's board with the comment, "Never mind." I can't erase the fact I did post, but my actual post is gone. It's invaluable, and has served me well.
Outwest: if you think this is a diverse forum, try navigating one with 37,000 users, with well over a 1,000 "active" members. Now that's akin to tiptoeing through a minefield! LOL

That IS a huge group. This group is amazingly diverse, which is part of the fun, but certainly not like that, I agree. I participate sporatically on a few other groups. They all have their own flavor and are all a lot more forgiving, allowing removal and changing of posts. One is a private board, which is oh, so civilized. One is unmoderated, which is annoying to say the least (an unmoderated political site? Why do I even try?). The other is full of young men, but I have been accepted there as the token old lady talking about bicycling. I have been hanging out here a lot lately because, well, it's about poodles! Poodles are my absolute favorite things with Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream coming in second. So, I am trying to be very good. It is moderated, after all.
