Smile New member introduction!

Hello, my name is Samantha. I'm a teenager (but not a delinquent, lol.) I don't yet have my poodle, but I will in 16 days. <3 I really can't wait, it's all I can think about!
She's a white toy poodle. I'm getting her from a breeder I really trust. I still haven't picked out a name, so I'm open to any suggestions! I want something French, preferably. (I know they used to be very popular in France, and I also really love the language.) Any other advice for a first time toy poodle owner is greatly appreciated! I've already researched everything a lot but I don't mind being reminded!

Thank you, have a nice day. (:

Default New member introduction!

I have a sable colored standard. He's a stinker and mischief maker, but still a really good puppy. He's 9 months old now and I think he's 65 pounds.

I don't know what to put in the "Title" field. So I am introducing myself because I just found out I have to do that in order to post replies and questions. I don't want to go into great detail because I don't know if this will work without the "Title" filled in. My second Standard Poodle is now almost 8 months old, a cream male. I acquired him from a reputable breeder (I did my homework) at age 10 1/2 weeks and flew home with him in a soft carrier under the seat in the cabin of the airplane. I know it was traumatic for him because he was shaking and drooling and I had to force him into the carrier. I don't know if this is why he has the problem, separation anxiety. If I figure out how to post on Poodle Forum, I will give more details on my ideas about what else could be the cause of his problem.

My first St. Poodle was a black male, who died in July 2012 at the age of almost 13. Before my two poodles, I had German Shepherds and GSD crosses. I never had a separation anxiety problem with ANY of my previous dogs so I am rather bewildered. I have received lots of advice, and it runs the gamut, which can be confusing. My motto is "primum non nocere -- first, do no harm" so I haven't done a lot. I know a few things about training and conditioning so I know a few things not to do. We have figured out how to never leave him, after trying it a few times with not so good results. But it is really restrictive. Thank God we are retired. But long-term, we need to figure this out. We might someday want to go somewhere together, hubby and me!

I read a post that mentioned that Zylkene worked for one member's dog, but I can't find anything about what it really is, after several online searches.

Thanks all, hope this works so I can start posting.

Sami, didn't you have a poodle named Periwinkle who passed, and a black toy named Bisou? I think last winter? Correct me if I'm wrong!
