Maggie from Sydney!
G'Day,
Maggie is a 16 week old black Miniature Poodle. She is very cute and very clever! She is our first puppy, we have always had rescues (labs and standard poodles) before so they have always been older than 3 years. It has been quite a shock to the system having a puppy and learning a lot. We have finished puppy school and starting another training class at then end of this month. We are having a few miscommunications such as walking on the lead and recall can be a bit hit and miss with distractions but hoping these will be ironed out in no time. I have no doubt i will be needing some help and support over the next few years! Kate and Mags

Hi, Maggiesmum... Welcome to the forum...
I also have a 16 week old black poodle.. His name is Storm... He's only just finished his vaccinations, so we have only walked in the back yard, which seems more like a play with the leash...
In the next day or so he'll be ready to go for a walk, which should distract him from the leash... and then I'll encounter the next problem...

Thank you all for such a warm welcome! All of your babies look adorable!
Lene, whether to take her out after the second vaccination or wait until the third was the hardest decision we had to make but on the vets recommendation we were walking her around the block after the second. She is just a stubborn thing and sits and won't budge if it doesn't suit her. I think i'll head over to the training section for some advice!

My vet said 10-14 days after his last vaccination... The only place I can board Storm, while I'm working is with the breeder... Anyone else wants full vaccinations + 10 days...
Storm is now fully vaccinated, and I've started walking him out the front... Just around the front yard for now...
This afternoon he went back to his breeder, as I'm working 2 dayshifts, each of 12 hours the next 2 days...

Thanks schpekie!
Lene, it seems to be a much talked about topic, whether to socialise early or protect them from unwanted diseases/viruses. Because she is an only child and after talking with our vet we decided we should take that risk, we are in an area that has not had parvo (touch wood) for years. They are such a worry aren't they?? Our baby has a couple of days a week where she is on her own for about 6 hrs, the other days we have a dog walker but it is very hard and a big worry when you have to go out and earn a living!
