Hi - new to the forum
Hi all,
I joined the forum awhile ago but just now getting around to posting an intro. My puppy, Remy, has lived with me for 2 months -- he is a 4 month old black toy male. He is my first poodle and I've been searching the forum to answer questions for the last 2 months. My picture is Remy after his first visit to the groomer at 15 weeks.

What a perfect retirement gift to yourself! Hope you have many long, happy years together, and that the trials and tribulations of puppyhood are outweighed by the fun you are having!

Thanks everyone --
The trials of puppyhood are outweighed by the fun and love -- but I have to admit there have been times I've wondered what I've got myself into with this adventure. It has been a long time since we've had a puppy in the house.
I got him at 9 1/2 weeks and he hadn't been socialized that much. He had a temper tantrum on the first visit to the vet when she tried to look at his ears. Two weeks later he tried to bite the vet. On the vet's advice, I started taking him to Lowe's, Home Depot and pet stores to get him more socialized. We also signed up for an obedience class that started when he was 14 weeks old. The class has 4 other dogs (an adult Rhodesian Ridgeback, a lab puppy, a Belgian Malinois, and a golden doodle). We gone from constant scared whining in the first class to him playing in the snow before class with the doodle and the malinois today. And the last vet visit -- he went to the vet for petting and treats both before and after getting his vaccination.
He is still too distracted in class with the other dogs to pay much attention to me so we are probably going to repeat the class. I know I can use it.
We are going for walks everyday that the temperature is at least 38 F. He really looks forward to walks and we have lots of parks and trails around here so it should be a lot of fun when the weather gets warmer and he gets older.

Your vet was very smart to recommend classes! Us little dog owners tend to have 'New Puppy Momma Syndrome' and over protect our tiny ones too much, then as they get older, it turns into 'Little Dog Syndrome' where we end up with a spoiled little dog that bites everyone! I saw this a lot as a Vet tech(retired) and vowed never to let it happen to me! My Molly is a small mini and has never met a dog or person she doesn't like!LOL! I hope you also raise a social butterfly cuz they make life a lot more fun!
Your baby is gorgeous! I love the inky black color, they always look so shiny! Have fun on our PF....it's a great group!
