Default Me and my puppy intro

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a bit and decided to register after reading a bunch of your poodle puppy stories that made me smile

I'm the daddy of a 17 month old Spoo (I think that's the term y'all use for standard poodle?) named Darku who's been in my family since he was 8 weeks old. He is our first dog. We decided on a poodle because we wanted a larger dog and it was the only breed I wasn't allergic to, but Darku ended up being so much more than just a hypoallergenic pet! He is a smart, spunky, curious puppy who's growing into a confident, loving, adventurous adult.

We love stand up paddling, which, unfortunately, has taken a hiatus due to this inconvenience called winter. Darku will fetch through anything with enthusiasm, especially in the water. We are looking forward to him getting just a bit older so he can go running with us. Darku has (mostly) shown me poodles are not the frou-frou and prissy stereotype; they are fun loving, athletic, get-yer-paws-dirty dogs! However, I will admit we secretly enjoy our nightly brushing routine.

I'm attaching a few pics of my pup who I'm proud of, brings us happiness, and makes us laugh.

I'm looking forward to continuing hearing everyone's poodle stories!

Your boy is soo cute!!! And welcome to the forum! It seems like you and your boy are having so much fun together! I'm glad Darku has changed your perspective of poodles (as did my own spoo haha). I hope to see you more around on PF!

P.s. My spoo is around Darku's age except just a tiny bit older. Shelton is reaching 19 months this month

Thanks! Hopefully Darku and I will have some winter adventures to post a pic of sometime soon. Has your pup "calmed down" from the puppy stage since they're around the same age? I noticed mine is much more likely to settle down in the evening after dinner and has less of a "need" to play. He's turning into an adult so fast!

He's still very puppy like but he's definitely calmer. I know he has pent up energy but he's very calm (usually lays down and sleeps) when I'm not doing anything at home. But when he plays he's still very much a baby haha. I think it's weird but fun to see them starting to mature so much already
