I'm Ana, a 28-year-old first-time dog owner and below is Lila, my lovely (as of tomorrow) 14 week old Standard!
I've had Lila since she was 8 weeks old, and it's been a real trip. Who knew puppyhood was so hard? I hope I can make it through the teenage years...
But as Lila's maturing, things are becoming easier. My 12-week-old Lila was almost incomparable to my 8-week-old girl. She's top dog in her AKC Puppy STAR class. She's already making adult dogs look like clowns (we work a lot on settling and loose leash walking). I've come a long way too in how to communicate with her. I love building this relationship with her.

Welcome to PF and Lila is beautiful! But what really makes me happy to hear is that you, as a first time owner are doing it the right way and taking her and yourself to training classes! You are learning soooo much how to be the best ever friend to your girl!!!! Good job!!!

Welcome and congrats on your lovely new pup. She's adorable. And yes, you are to be commended on your ambition to making the best relationship with your dog...learning so much already. Way to go! I look forward to reading more about her and seeing pictures.
Properly trained, a man can be dog's best friend.
"If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." -- Samuel Adams 1776

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I bet I have a lot to learn from all of you. She's hard work and sometimes she leaves me at a total loss! Unfortunately(?) I have a lot of people in my life that don't like dogs, so I have a lot to prove. This keeps me on my toes though and strongly encourages me to train Lila to be the MOST pleasant dog to be around!
