Welcome to the forum! Congratulations!
My guys just came home Dec 26th so I am still learning a lot myself. My two are Toys and only around 1 1/2 pounds, so I am just pad training them now. I have two pens, one for the main floor and one in my bedroom. The pen in my room is slightly smaller and has a doggy bed, pad, and food and water bowls (plus their favorite toy, Monkey - I bought several when I realized this was their favorite). The pen on the main floor is slightly bigger, has all the same as the upstairs one and also room to play and toys that I switch out every day. They are very good about getting to their pads in their pens. While they are playing, that is a different issue. They will make it at times but they usually need reminders. I watch them like a hawk while they are having free play out of their pen (they are so small and so young). Even so they have still had accidents. I say "No no!" and take them to the pad. When they are back to playing I clean-up the mess. It's like children learning to potty, while playing, they just forget. I question myself at times and hope I am doing things right. This is all new to me. But I can see they are very happy little guys, and, with some things, time will tell. This forum is wonderful for support and knowledge.
