Smile Hello

Hi everyone,
Getting my little mini poodle puppy this month. Very excited! Shes a black little fluff ball. Been reading as much as i can to get ready. Im lucky as i have a good frined that is a wonderful groomer! I get a discount so very helpful and i totally trust her.
Question.... Will i have a hard time transitioning her from pee pads to outdoor area? Also how long will she be able to hold it when shes 8 weeks old? I work around the corner and only part time so i plan on going home evry two hours for potty break and playtime. Then i planned on crate while home... Taking her out for potty and play every hour. Will i need to get up at night the first few weeks to let her out? Im up at five am bed at ten pm. Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations!

My guys just came home Dec 26th so I am still learning a lot myself. My two are Toys and only around 1 1/2 pounds, so I am just pad training them now. I have two pens, one for the main floor and one in my bedroom. The pen in my room is slightly smaller and has a doggy bed, pad, and food and water bowls (plus their favorite toy, Monkey - I bought several when I realized this was their favorite). The pen on the main floor is slightly bigger, has all the same as the upstairs one and also room to play and toys that I switch out every day. They are very good about getting to their pads in their pens. While they are playing, that is a different issue. They will make it at times but they usually need reminders. I watch them like a hawk while they are having free play out of their pen (they are so small and so young). Even so they have still had accidents. I say "No no!" and take them to the pad. When they are back to playing I clean-up the mess. It's like children learning to potty, while playing, they just forget. I question myself at times and hope I am doing things right. This is all new to me. But I can see they are very happy little guys, and, with some things, time will tell. This forum is wonderful for support and knowledge.

Your most welcome! And thank you! That is great that your breeder sent videos. My breeder has cams and I loved being able to get on and watch them all (Ryker and Canyon have two sisters). It is so cute watching pups romp and play with each other. Your little girl will be with you sooner that it seems and you will be getting tons of puppy kisses. It seemed like the day was never going to come.
