Hi there!
My name is Ryan and we're working on adding a Standard Poodle to our family now. We have two miniature schnauzers but we've been planning to add a spoo to the family for about two years now. I grew up with two spoos, Bonnie and Clyde, and they were the best dogs that have ever owned us. Our love for them was renewed after we fostered a rescue spoo last year for about 6 weeks. I had forgotten just how smart and funny they are on a daily basis.
At the time, we owned a house with a tiny lot and it just wasn't the right timing to add a spoo. Since then, we've purchased a house with a half acre privacy fenced lot and we're ready to devote the time needed to bring a new fur baby home.
I've really enjoyed reading the forums and learning from everyone! Thanks!

Hi Ryan !
Welcome to the group! Poodles are truly great dogs aren't they? Are you planning on a rescue or buying from a breeder?

Thanks!
Thanks guys and gals!
I think we've found a retired breeder that we're going to adopt. We've had puppies and we've had older dogs (rescues and dogs we've purchased). For us, it really comes down to finding the right fit for our family. Hopefully everything will work out!

Our Spoo
We finally were able to nail down the details on adopting a retired breeder. We are adopting Truffles (probably going to rename her Ella) from Family Affair Standards. They have been incredible to work with! She's two years old and she's a beauty. They're going to be delivering her in about two weeks and we can't wait to meet her and then spoil the heck out of her! Really can't say enough about how incredible Wendy and Cindy from Family Affair have been. They really care about their dogs and about their welfare.

Thats wonderful, her pict. was on line(there site) I was looking at her, she is so pretty, Im so happy that you gave her a forever home, so many people just think about pupies, there great, however, the oldies, are still very loving, sweet animals, that are in need of love allso. Please let us know how things go. And give that sweet girl a big kiss for me.

Thanks so much! We have always done a mix of pups and older dogs. At this point with a toddler in the house, we weren't ready for the joy, and challenges, of a little pup.
Truffles is going to be a perfect fit for us though! We can't wait to start doing some obedience training and then, hopefully, agility.
