Can A Dog Choose It's Owner?
Hi Everyone,
I'm Chad, these are my dogs Appa (Standard Lab/Gold'nDoodle) and Moe-Moe (Maltipoo). Appa wandered into my yard on an early Saturday morning in July, 5 months ago. I'll put an album together; he was long haired, matted, and was feral for what appeared to be months! His hair was dreadlocked on his left ear causing the skin to ulcerate. The blood attracted flies which brought the maggots. He also had an ear infection causing black waxy wet "stuff" and puss to pour out his ears.
The next day I took him to a mobile clinic and gave him ALL the shots, found out he was a boy, and got him some heart worm meds. Next, off to the groomers. They shaved him down to the skin and unearthed a couple of foxtails jabbed in his sides. They left the infected ear and didn't finish until I got him to the vet. So off to the vet we go!
The animal hospital fixed up the ear and I figured it'd be a good idea to get this boy neutered while he was down. My new friend had to spend the night at the hospital, but was in great spirits the next day I picked him up.
He's in great shape now with a healthy coat, bright pink skin, and a spunky disposition. He sits and shake hands on command and is extremely well behaved in the car (he just sits there)... and I didn't teach him any of that.
This is the first time I've owned a dog this big and this "high maintenance" with the coat. I may be asking a ton of questions and digging through the forums to figure out how to keep their hair clips maintained during the rainy season and how to keep these huge buggers off the kitchen counter and raiding the family dinner!
He's been the easier dog to train and love having him around. Stay tuned for more adventures w/ Appa. Drop me a line any time and I'll make a proper intro for Moe-Moe next time!
Thanks all,
CHAD, Appa, and Moe-Moe

Oh that's so sweet how you rescued him, I just love a story where a dog gets a chance to blossom like that! But I hope they can't choose their homes or else my dogs will be off to find LEUllman. JK! Welcome to the forum

What a turn around. So happy he found you... I believe he picked you. Can't wait to see more pictures of him!

Thanks everyone for a warm welcome! I put an album together of Appa in November.
Please take a look and let me know what you think he's mixed with. I'm sure there's a thread for this ::looking::
