just false alarms as far as I can tell. Yesterday an older man called and said he saw what might be her while walking in a nearby neighborhood. When I went over there to check, he was also back over there walking around and showed me exactly where he saw the little white female dog that was dancing around and would not let him pick her up. He also said she barked at him, which I thought odd since Moddey's not a barker, but I went all over driving and then walking about looking for her in that area. When I went back by the house he'd seen her nearest, I was hearing this yapping bark and looked over and there was a little white dog (probably a malti mix) that I could see through the big cut glass window in their door. By this time it had been at least 40 minutes since he saw the dog, and I went over to ring their doorbell to see if perhaps that dog had been out during that time, but no one answered. I think, based on his description (which did also kinda fit Moddey but was rather vague) that the dog he saw was probably those people's malti mix, not my poodle. I am glad that people are seeing and responding to the flyers, and that the people in my neighborhood care so much, but I find it frustrating to get false alarms. I also have trouble reminding myself that no, the average person does not know the difference between a poodle and a maltese with a haircut, and are just reporting whatever little white dog (and there are a million of them) they happen to see running around, and I should not let that irritate me. I am also glad that he was not able to get that dog to go with him, because I would not want to be responsible, even indirectly, for someone else loosing their dog, even temporarily.
