The "thanks" button for me is a "thanks for the good point, even though we may disagree." And "thanks for the useful post that I can use." And "thanks for your personal post about yourself and your poodle(s) ." I don't take sides, except my own and even that can change. I've never thought of "please" and "thank you" as being cliquish.

You and your mom are in my thoughts, Faerie!!
Personally I love the Thanks button because sometimes I don't have time to type a reply or I'm on a tablet and it's hard...o ron this tint netbook where it's also hard...ROFL. I like to acknowledge replies to my own threads and also acknowledge things other people post that I like (the post, not necessarily the person, although I do believe I like everyone I've encountered here!!).

I say thanks to Poodle Forum for the "thanks" button. It seems to be very useful for what it was meant to do.

Thanks! As a relatively new member I find the thanks button helpful for indicating my appreciation for useful and caring responses, and quite frankly can't understand why anyone would see anything negative about it. Thanks for the thanks button.

I tend to see the "Thanks" button as the "Like" button on facebook, except when there's bad news in a post or something. If it still contains some good/interesting information, I'd still hit thanks. I'm just not in the habit of thanking everything, I guess.

"Thanks" can also be "Thanks for the warning information that I will not like and should listen to."

The thanks button becomes meaningless when it's used indiscriminately. When you are not the person who started the thread or asked a question, why would you thank everybody who posts? If you do it in multiple threads, it means even less.

I like the "thanks" button and I use it to thank someone for their information, input, etc. I have used it on posts where I have not posted.. I felt someone else said what I would have typed, so instead I says "thanks".
I don't, however, take it as a contest to see how many thanks I can get or give. It's nice when I get one, but to be honest, I have never noticed if someone thanked others and not me. :-)
