My apologies
I am so sorry I opened up a hornet's nest. The only reason I ever mentioned Raven's epilepsy in my introduction is because a lady named Cherie Arreau came on saying she had Raven's mother and Raven was whelped at her place.
I thought she would want to know about the epilepsy. I had no idea the reaction would be what it was. Also had no idea it would result in threats.
I am relieved the thread is finally closed.
Again my sincere apologies to the good people on Poodle Forum,
Gail

I don't think you opened a hornets nest, Arreau just wanted to express her opinion on breeding (as myself and many others have done)...your thread was far from contentious comparatively speaking

If anything Tux - you should be apologized too. You owe no one an apology.
I am sorry your honesty pissed off people, however it's not about you......I don't think so anyway.
I didn't realize the thread was closed.

The thread is not closed, and I personally think it should stay open. There are alot of good posts in there, good information, and a general difference of opinion. I see no reason what so ever that the thread should be closed, and if it does get closed then that is a shame (i cant post the words i really want to...).

Is the thread closed?
Maybe it is not closed, I thought I saw something about it being closed after that Cheri Arreau threatened to sue me. I just supposed it was closed. I don't know my way around on the Poodle Forum yet well enough to know, not sure I want to, after this experience.
I realize there are a lot of behind the scenes issues with this. I did not like the fact she said Raven lived in a kennel after leaving her place, to me that was degrading Cantope. I would never willingly be a party to that. I realize lots of dogs live in kennels, it may be correct but it didn't need to be said on a public forum. That is what prompted me to bring up the epilepsy thing. If a person dishes it out they should expect to get it back two fold.
I know a lot more of the history than I let on I knew. I shouldn't be hated, and punished, because I purchased an innocent puppy from Cantope. I am very pleased and thankful a lot of you defended me.
There is an old saying "It only takes a few rotten apples to spoil a barrel" Can you tell I am a Maritimer? LOL

Please, know that I sincerely support your position in this matter and I completely understand that you simply wanted to communicate openly about Raven's seizures and possible genetic links!
Like so many times before, it is beyond me why some persons react so critically when a member speaks out here in PF. Everyone has there own experiences and opinions! Looks like adults could just verbally agree to disagree and move forward!
Oh well.....Tux, please, chalk it up to the unpredictable nature of humans! LOL!!!

Thank you for you kind words. I meant actually no harm, I thought the owner of Raven's mother would want to know about his having epilepsy, especially when I just learned she is a breeder.
I had no idea who now owned Holly Berry, I wrongly assumed she was in a pet home. I did not know the poor girl had at least 32 other offspring, who knows how many more.
I can't imagine a breeder being so uncaring about her puppies that she would threaten to sue someone for bringing a fact about one of them to her attention. That sounds so ridiculous, but that is the truth of it all.

I think the thing to do now will be to be a big person and soldier on. I didn't see anything wrong with what was said, what the thread started with, and can't believe it went to the place it did. Thinly veiled threats, while chuckle-worthy, are ridiculous. Report posts when needed, I've learned, and hope for the correct form of forum justice.
I have a dog who has seizures too, I know that it is no fun and that you were just trying to share with us your sadness as a doggy mommy that your poor guy has to go through this. Hopefully your thread has enlightened some - regardless of which facts they chose to read and take from - and that a healthier and healthier poodle can be bred. Because after all, it is a forum for poodle lovers, not poodle arguers.

Thanks, Spenser, I intend to totally ignore the nasty people, who gives a darn what they think.
I am pleased to have met so many nice poodle owners, naturally there will be a few who are not nice, but a very few.
In the town where I live Standard Poodles are about as scarce as hen's teeth it is so nice to be able to converse with people who have the same taste in dogs as I have. People who own Rotties or Pit Bulls seem to think Poodle owners are a bit of "fluff". I have had people on the street ask me "Why do you clip those big dogs like Poodles? Well, because they are Poodles!" Dah!
One man said "That's a good looking Bouvier!" I looked around to see who he was talking to, decided he actually meant Raven. Rather a shock! I have no idea what he would think Tux is, long before I had Tux.
Most people marvel at the way they move, how proud they are. Tux and Raven's groomers delight in showing them off. They are both beautiful dogs, one black, one white. To see them together right after a groom is a thing of real beauty.

Sorry Spencer, I lost thrack of my thoughts. I am so sorry you have a dog who has seizures as well. Is your dog's name Spencer? if so, I love it. Does a person ever get used to seizures? I think of how upset I get over Raven having seizures, then I think of parents whose human children have them. I can't imagine how they cope with that.
Before Raven I had only seen one seizure, it was a girl who worked for me. I saw her rushing into the ladies room in a panic. I went in behind her and locked the door to keep prying eyes out of there. I really thought she must be pregnant, I didn't want the other staff gossiping about that. Boy, did I get a shock. I stayed with her until she could navigate on her own and drove her home. None of the staff ever knew what happened - she got sick and had to go home. That must have been 25 years ago, but I have never forgotten it.
