I would like to see a rescue section. People that would like to get a poodle should look into Rescue first. There are some great dogs there. All their stories are different, some dogs have ended up in rescue for a lot of reasons.
Some information on Poodle Rescue of Houston:
Poodle Rescue of Houston (PRH) is a no kill, private, tax exempt, non-profit organization chartered by the state of Texas. They are a 501c(3) corporation as recognized by the IRS.
All adoption fees go back into the rescue to pay for dog food, medical attention needed by the dogs, heartworm medication, flea medication, bowls, blankets, and their housing needs. Nothing is wasted.
Here is a quote from their website:
"PRH rescues distressed dogs, mostly poodles, from a variety of sources. These include public animal shelters and humane organizations across a six or seven state region as well as individuals or breeders who, for various reasons, "surrender" their dogs to our care.
On many occasions we have rescued large numbers of dogs from court-ordered “puppy mill” seizures. Once we rescue dogs, we rehabilitate them and offer them for adoption to carefully screened families and individuals. In every case, Poodle Rescue of Houston is asked to accept dogs into our care and we usually do accept them. It is our outstanding reputation that makes other organizations, courts and private individuals turn to us for our assistance."
My girl, Sasha is a 2009 alumni of PRH and I am proud to support their cause.
