is there the potential to make this forum more private? that way if people are to read what's going on beyond say, "introductions" that they have to join.

Yes I can do this.

Here are some things to consider:

- some people won't join unless they get a little taste of what's inside and I'm not sure if the introductions area alone are enough to get them to join

- not everyone wants to be a part of a community and just want to "lurk".

Right now, unlogged-in users can only view but can't post. I have more to add but I want to hear what you guys think.

well, here's my opinion... if folks want to read, that's fine.

perhaps look at opening up 2 subforums, intro and poodle pics or another, but not all of it.
but if they join, then they can read and not contribute, that's fine.

what about intros, pictures and maybe something like the food question area?

just so they can see that there is educational owner info on the forum as well?

an informational area that is less likely to contain anything that could be construed as controversial if that is the concern for limiting viewing?

What would be the benefits of having it private?

Yes. I wondered that. I also wondered why there was a problem in it not being private.

I think that it has more potential to educate public about health testing, responsible breeding , puppy-mills, brokers etc., etc, if it stays open as it is. It reaches FAR grater audience.

I am sure that many non-poodle people come here to find certain general information about nutrition, training, hair care end so on, and get "responsible- breeding" insight as a "side note"and that is of huge importance IMO.

I, too, wonder what, if any, benefit there would be in taking this forum private. Meaning no one any disrespect, but I can't see the point.

I don't see any advantage in going private. I like the fact that people can lurk and learn. I would like to see the 52 week pictures posts put into a separate area so that they don't overwhelm the "new posts" feature.
