Dear Cameo,
I am writing in reference to your post on 3/12/10 - about the black yeasty spots that your dog Cameo gets from grain. I'm on my second week of googling, and five hours in, just tonight, trying to figure out what my border collie is afflicted with. Strangely enough your thread on the poodle forum is the closest thing I've found on the internet. I had a couple of questions, specifically:
1. Do the spots resemble pepper, that you have to scrub raw in order to remove?
2. How long after changing your dog's diet do you notice improvement?
3. If he hasn't had a grain allergy before, could he now be developing one? Could it just be from bad grain? I used to feed him Canidae or Wellness before, and I just now switched him to Iams, not thinking it would be that big of a deal. Could it just be the lower grade dog food?
Thank you so much for all of your help. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me at
